Blake Goud
Blake Goud is the founder of SharingRisk.org, a think tank on Islamic finance based in Portland, Oregon. He is also the Chief Compliance Officer for Marquam Capital, a registered investment advisor, and is a registered representative at HP Securities, Inc. He previously served as the Executive Director for the Institute of Halal Investing (IHI), a non-profit think tank working to demystify Islamic finance among both Muslims and non-Muslims from 2006 to 2008, where he edited the IHI newsletter,Halal News.
He graduated from Reed College with a B.A. in Economics in 2003 and has several years experience in the financial industry. In April 2008, he co-authored a paper, "The Development of Shari'ah-based microfinance using the Grameen group financing methodology" which he presented at the pre-forum workshop on Islamic microfinance at the 8th Harvard University Forum on Islamic Finance (review in pdf). He has served as US Correspondent for Islamic Business & Finance magazine since 2007 and has written a monthly opinion column for Business Islamica magazine, is a contributor to Yasaar Media's "So Far? The Journal on Strategic Thought in Islamic Finance", and contributes to Islamic Finance News. Beginning in 2010, Blake began editing the UFANA quarterly newsletter. He was recently recognized by the S.E.VEN Fund's Morality of Profit competition with an "Honorable Mention" for an essay he wrote on Islamic finance & Unitarian Universalism.
